On Friday, I left a rainy New York City to drive down to Washington DC for the first stop on the Metropolitan Knits book tour. My husband and I arrived in Downtown DC in the late evening and enjoyed a light bite before heading off to dream land.
In the morning, we headed out a little early so we could stop in at Firefly bakery for some tea and delicious muffins. In fact, I wish we had had more time to spend in DC to explore the various eateries! The restaurant scene looked pretty amazing.
I arrived at Looped Yarn Works a little early to set up the samples, meet the wonderful staff and take a quick tour of the shop. Janie and company have a lovely light filled, welcoming space that any knitter would love. It felt like home.
It was a wonderful day filled with signing books and meeting new people. It was a relaxed event that ended with everyone knitting (except for me, I felt a little like a heretic, I didn’t even pack any knitting for the trip!) in the front room and trading knitting stories.
Overall, I’d say my first signing was a success. I hope to come back to DC to visit again soon. And of course, next time I’ll bring my knitting!
