I like the swatch pattern. Olive and blue/lav are a great combo. I say go for it!

The lace patt is lovely and it looks great with the st st at the top of the swatch. The hand dyed yarn isn’t competing with the st patt for attention-good yarn/st patt combo.

Ooh, the lichen is my favorite madtosh color. For some reason the lace in that color isn’t really speaking to me, but it’s really hard to tell just from a swatch.

I *do* like the idea of the lace mixed with a bunch of stockinette better than the bulk of whatever it is being lace (as is the case with the swatch).
