Off to London………
Posted on | November 8, 2007 | 8 Comments
I’m off to London on Thursday for a little shopping trip for work. I’m not really much of a flyer, so I’m a little nervous, but I think everything will be ok. I just wish I would be able to knit both coming and going, but I know that Heathrow is a bit strict about knitting needles. Waaaa!
I’ve never been overseas before, but I don’t think I’ll have much time for site seeing. We literally shop til we drop from when the stores open to when they close. This may sound like fun, but trust me, it’s very tiring! Although it’s always exciting the first time I suppose and it’s better than being stuck in a cubicle all day!
Off to pack! Now if I could only remember what I did with my passport…….
Jumped the gun a bit on writing up this post on Tuesday! Unfortunately 3 days of turning my apartment upside down did not yield the precious passport. Everything else important was in it’s place, but the passport had walked off apparently. Another designer went in my place this time, but luckily this will not be my last shot at the trip. Waaa!

I just went to London last weekend and they gave me no trouble with my knitting needles (nor have they on previous trips); I just had a circular Addi, but other times I’ve had metal dpns!. You never know, though, they are always changing the regulations…. Your new Granny Smith is really pretty, by the way.

I’ve been through London too with knitting needles. I don’t have them out, but in my carry on case and haven’t had any problems.
So, definitely when you go, take your knitting. That’s a lot of valuable knitting time you don’t want to lose! ;)

What a bummer! I’ve never had trouble bringing my knitting on overseas flights, but on one flight I was on, a woman told me they took away her needles (circular Addis, I think) when she saw me knitting (I think I had some sort of dpns). That was so unfair – I don’t understand how some knitting needles can be more “dangerous” than others. I haven’t flown through Heathrow since I started knitting again, however.

I flew in/out of Heathrow in mid September and had no problem with my dpns through security (and I got 3/4 of a sock knit on my way home).

Bummer – I wonder if you accidentaly threw it away. If it were me, it would show up the day after I was suppose to leave.
The Granny Smith is gorgeous – I really like it.
your long absent mentoree (probaly not really a word!)
